2014 Ancient City Game Fish Challenge

The Ancient City Game Fish Challenge presented by Ancient City Game Fish Association is an exciting three day tournament based in beautiful historic downtown Saint Augustine, Florida.  This tournament was previously known as the Kingfish Challenge.  This year there will be three divisions (Kingfish Challenge, Back Water Challenge, and Junior Kingfish Tournament) that come together to create a world class tournament in the nations oldest city.  The tournament is based out of Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor and Northeast Florida Marlin Association Clubhouse.  

The tournament opens on Friday July 11, 2014 with a world class Junior's tournament.  The Junior Kingfish Tournament features an offshore Kingfish Tournament for those anglers wishing to venture outside of the Saint Augustine Inlet, into the rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  Junior anglers are treated to an informational seminar after weigh-in and awards Friday evening.  Awards are presented to the top anglers in each division, including junior anglers and small fry anglers .  

The main events of the tournament start Friday evening, with the captain's meeting for the Kingfish Challenge and Backwater Challenge.  The Kingfish Challenge is a two day offshore tournament, with a two day aggregate format. The Kingfish Challenge is a Southern Kingfish Association sanctioned event, in Division 5.   Teams entering the Kingfish Tournament are fighting it out for over $24,000 is cash and prizes.   

Backwater Challenge tournament anglers fish both Saturday and Sunday, for three species of inshore fish found locally in Saint Augustine waters.  Anglers are permitted to fish by boat, pier, beach, or any other means of reaching the water.  All fish must be landed by rod and reel, and anglers may transport fish to the weigh-in location by boat or car.  Anglers are permitted to fishing from the Saint Mary's Inlet to Ponce Inlet.  Backwater Challenge weigh-in will be a largest fish tournament with a special slam division.  Backwater Challenge anglers are fighting it out for over $4000.00 in cash and prizes.
