ACGFA
Logo Contest:
Our official club logo was designed in 1958 and updated in 1974. It contains
a Tarpon and Sailfish leaping above the City Gates. The Board of Directors
is considering changing the logo to bring the design up to the type fishing
we are targeting today. The Board has authorized a Logo Contest for members
with a Years Free ACGFA Membership as a prize. The contest ends February 28th.

ACGFA History: Four-Mile Reef.

Sixteen Auto Bodies Dumped Offshore in "Reef Project"
July 19, 1960
This was a St. Augustine Record article published about the first ACGFA reef
project, operation "Body Dump". The car bodies were dumped at the
site of a small natural reef located approximately four miles offshore. Thus
"Four-Mile Reef" was born. The reef was constructed for small boaters
because "there was concern that they were risking life and property by
venturing too far out into the ocean in search of big fish". This was
the first of two projects, the second to be about nine miles offshore and
slightly South of the St. Augustine Inlet.
