JUNIOR KINGFISH CHALLENGE
July 11th, 2008
2008 TOURNAMENT RULES (revised 1/3/08)
AGE: This Tournament is divided into two divisions. "Small-Fry" Division anglers must be seven (7) years of age or younger. "Junior" Division anglers must be eight (8) to (not to exceed) fifteen (15) years of age. Both divisions are refered to as Junior Anglers in these rules.
REGISTRATION: Registration fee is $10.00 per Junior Angler. Junior Anglers must be registered by Saturday July 5, 2008. Submit the registration fee on a completed Kingfish Challenge Application Form. The completed Kingfish Challenge Application Form is required even if you are not fishing the Kingfish Challenge Tournament. The Junior Kingfish Challenge is limited to the first 200 kids. We recommend you enter early. This is usually a full tournament.
PRIZES: prizes will be awarded to the top four anglers in each division. Awards will be presented at 6:00 p.m.
RULES: All Kingfish Challenge rules apply to this tournament except as outlined below. In the spirit of competition, it is the intent of the tournament to have the Junior Angler strike and fight the fish to the boat. However, since safety and a fun experience for our Junior Anglers are of paramount concern, adult assistance to Junior Anglers is not considered a violation of tournament rules, if, personal safety, damage or loss of equipment are involved.
WEIGH-IN FISH: The Junior Anglers are competing for Largest (weight) King Mackerel ONLY. The Junior Angler must present their fish for "official" weigh-in.
CHECK-OUT AND CHECK-IN: The Tournament VHF Radio Channel is Channel 72. All boats must leave and return through the St. Augustine Inlet. Participating boats must visually check-out with the Tournament Committee starting at 7:00 a.m. at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. Juniors will pick up their Tournament Bags at that time. Check-in and Weigh-in is at 4:00 p.m. You must be in line at the weigh station, St. Augustine Municipal Marina at 4:00 p.m. in order for your fish to count. Boats that do not have fish to weigh may check-in by radio. ALL BOATS MUST CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN.
