Newsletter:  This month’s newsletter is being mailed only. We are concerned that the e-mail version may be the reason for poor attendance at the last several meetings. Those that did not attend missed some great speakers and good food as well as missing out on the $100 drawing which is now up to $300.  E-mail newsletters have been sent to all members who have listed e-mail addresses. We have 130 e-mail addresses for the 180 newsletters we send out each month which saves the club about $100 - $125 each month. If the lack of a hard copy newsletter is causing a lack of interest or not remembering the meeting date, then we need to change.  We want your feedback so please let us know if you want a hard copy mailed or the e-mail version.  We will take your comments at the meetings, by e-mail or phone call to a board member or to me (Jim Blalock 904-501-1447).

Hi Folks!

We’ve made it another year.  They seem to go by faster and faster.  Sorry I was unable to make the last meeting.  I had to take care of some things in Asheville, NC.  Thank you to Donna and James and the old and new board for jumping in and getting everything started on a new note for me.  Please don’t forget our Christmas Party Friday, December 11th.  Social starts at 6 pm, dinner at 7 pm, and Santa is scheduled to make an appearance at 8 pm.  If you haven’t signed up, please call Stephanie Burt at 669-0213 or email at slburt0563@yahoo.com.  We’re asking everyone to also donate something for the Basket of Cheer.  The proceeds of this raffle will be donated to the Shrine Club.  We’ll also have our usual raffle as well.  I’m looking forward to an exciting new year.  Lastly, please remember to give thanks to our soldiers overseas and keep them in your prayers for the upcoming year.

Go Fishing!

Capt. Joel

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (July 2006)

(The editor wrote this based on Donna’s input. Any mistakes or omissions are the editor’s)

Annual membership dinner and year-end awards:  Donna gave special thanks to David & Liana Chapman, Bill Kline, Bert  & Brenda Walton, John & Michele Waldron, John & Ruth Jordan,James & Linda Manucy, Pierre & Anita Pierce, David & Evi Bruster, Carmel Cunningham, and Stephanie Burt.  I’m sure there are others and they are appreciated and were not left out intentionally.  It was a great event!

Thank-you to all the members that assisted with the Kingfish Challenge Tournament!  This is only a 10 page newsletter so there is not room to list everyone that worked so hard.  We will have a recap at the July Meeting (July 18th).  Except for the weather, it went very smoothly and comments received were very good.

If you have not paid your 2006-2007 dues, they were due June 1st.  We have 51 Families paid, 24 Singles paid, and 5 Life Members.  Approximately 20 are new members.  Welcome aboard!  The bad news is there are 51 Families and 34 Singles who were members last year that have not renewed their memberships yet.  We need all of you back so please mail or bring your dues to the meeting.  Your fish don’t count if your dues are not paid.

Fishing First and Safety Always!
