PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

December 2008

I believe our Thanksgiving Food Drive was a tremendous success.  McDowell Baptist church went in with us; between our club and the church we collected enough food items to make up five food baskets to donate to needy families, each basket was worth more than $120 in value!  Our club furnished three $20 gift certificates for the purchase of a turkey or ham and the church furnished the other two gift certificates.  I thank everyone who joined in the food drive. Winners of the food drive raffle were Scott Shank, Stephanie Burt, John Coates, and Kendall Kiesel and Dalton Childres (thanks to Dick & Betty Newton who donated their two winning tickets to kids in attendance).

The votes are in!  I want to thank everyone for their time to fill out the In-club Tournament questionnaires at the last meeting.  It looks like we will take the Blessing of the Fleet, and the Striking Fish Tournament off of the clubs’ annual events.  We have a Board Meeting on 4 December, so we will discuss what we can put back in place of these events.  Presently we have an event scheduled for each month, and I would like to continue with that.

I want to remind everyone to RSPV for our Christmas party and to sign-up for what type of covered dish you will bring to our Christmas party on 13 December.  Also; as a reminder, we have a sign-up sheet for the kid’s Christmas and Santa’s visit, this sheet has to include your children’s name and age.  Jimmy has the contact telephone numbers for your RSVP’s.  Your reservations are very important so we can figure how much Turkeys, Hams, and Boston Butts to prepare.  I hope to see you at our Christmas party which starts at 4:30 PM, Saturday, December 13th.

May God continue to Bless America!

Hope your fishing lines stay tight.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (July 2006)

(The editor wrote this based on Donna’s input. Any mistakes or omissions are the editor’s)

Annual membership dinner and year-end awards:  Donna gave special thanks to David & Liana Chapman, Bill Kline, Bert  & Brenda Walton, John & Michele Waldron, John & Ruth Jordan,James & Linda Manucy, Pierre & Anita Pierce, David & Evi Bruster, Carmel Cunningham, and Stephanie Burt.  I’m sure there are others and they are appreciated and were not left out intentionally.  It was a great event!

Thank-you to all the members that assisted with the Kingfish Challenge Tournament!  This is only a 10 page newsletter so there is not room to list everyone that worked so hard.  We will have a recap at the July Meeting (July 18th).  Except for the weather, it went very smoothly and comments received were very good.

If you have not paid your 2006-2007 dues, they were due June 1st.  We have 51 Families paid, 24 Singles paid, and 5 Life Members.  Approximately 20 are new members.  Welcome aboard!  The bad news is there are 51 Families and 34 Singles who were members last year that have not renewed their memberships yet.  We need all of you back so please mail or bring your dues to the meeting.  Your fish don’t count if your dues are not paid.

Fishing First and Safety Always!
