Our Next Meeting is Tuesday, October 21st at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 1st St.  A map is available at acgfa.com.  Our meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month unless notified otherwise.  The Shriners have a very nice facility overlooking Moultrie Creek.  They have adequate parking across from the building.  Social is at 6:30, meeting

at 7:30.



Last Month’s Meeting was the weigh-in for the B.S. Open Tournament followed by a fish fry, awards and raffle. 

Thanks to all members, helpers, and contributors in the B.S. Tournament.  It was great fun and the fish-fry was even better. Those who missed it missed a great time. Tournament results are attached.Our Next Meeting is Tuesday, July 18th at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 1st St.  Our meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month unless notified otherwise.  The Shriners have a very nice facility overlooking Moultrie Creek.  They have adequate parking across from the building and operate a bar for us with donations for Drinks @ $3.00 and Beer @ $2.00 proceeds go to their Burn Hospitals fund.  Social 6:30 -  Meeting 7:30.


 


Last Month’s Meeting:  was the annual membership dinner and year-end awards. A complete list of awards are attached.  Dinner was a Steak Cook-out, and you cooked your own rib-eye steak.  There was also Hot Dogs available for non-steak eaters.  If you missed it shame on you.


 

Ronald McDonald’s Visit:  Ronald McDonald visited the Fish Fry and accepted the ACGFA’s Kingfish Challenge $1,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities which helps the healing process by keeping families together while their child receives treatment at nearby hospitals. The picture at the left was taken at the Fish Fry and shows Ronald with baby Natalia Childres and other kids when he visited.  Natalia is the Daughter of Billy & Christina Childres and Granddaughter of LeRoy & Wanda Kinlaw. Natalia’s parents stayed at the Ronald McDonald House when she was born because she had complications. All are members of ACGFA. Wanda Kinlaw made a challenge which generated $700 in donations in addition to the KFC donation. It is a great charity and we are proud to support it.  The best Fishing Cap awards were won by John Jordan (ugliest),  Donna Frantz (Most patriotic), Aaron ? and Dillon Drury (Best Classic Hats), and James Manucy (Funniest Act).  Honorable Mention to the Lady in Red Paula Fuller.  It was great.  Congratulations to all of those that wore their caps.


 

Membership Drawing:  Lucky John Baggott won the $150.  Be there this month to win $100.  You must be present to win. 


 

Club Shirts, Etc.:   Bill Kline will have ACGFA Shirts, Kingfish Challenge Shirts, Rig Bags, and Towels for sale. Buy now for the new fishing season. 

 


Raffle:   Dave Russell and Bob Swann had another great raffle which included; rods & reels, coolers, radios, bait motel, fish bag and gift certificates. I did not get the names of all the winners but winners included: John Coates, Evi Bruster, Rusty Russell, Drew Dillon, Rene Blalock, and John Baggott.  This month Dave and Bob will have another great raffle which may include Cooler, Lure Bags/Tackle Boxes, Rods & Reels and other great items. 

Program:  Snacks will be provided by David Chapman. Award of the In-Club Kingfish Tournament prizes will be made.

Election of Officers: Voting will be conducted and installation of the officers and board will be at the November meeting. The Nominating Committee will nominate the following club officers which are: President – James Manucy; Vice President – Tom Buckhalter; Secretary – Carmel Cunningham; Treasurer – Linda Manucy; and 4 Directors (the Past President Joe Noda will serve as a Director) and 2 Alternate Directors – Vote for 5 from the following: Ruth Jordan, Bert Walton, Stephanie Burt, Donna Frantz, Robert Olsen, & David Chapman.  You may also submit nominations from the floor providing the person nominated is present and willing to accept the office. The Board operates the club’s business and is very important to the club.  You can also volunteer to Chair or serve on Committees. Foir you new members, this is an opportunity to get more involved in the club and how it operates.

 

Also This Month:  We will start collecting non-perishable food items to distribute to local needy families for Thanksgiving.  The club will purchase a trukey or ham to put in each basket we put together.   Those who bring items will receive one ticket for each item donated up to a limit of 5 tickets, i.e. 6 cans of meat, fruits or vegatables gets 5 tickets.  We will draw for five (5) - $20.00 gift certificates to local bait & tackle shops at the November Meeting.  This is a great win – win deal.

 

 

Club Shirts, Etc.:   ACGFA Shirts and some Tank Tops, Kingfish Challenge Shirts, Rig Bags, and Towels for sale depending on what was left over from the Tournament.  These make great Christmas presents or stocking stuffers.

Year-end and In-Club Tournament Spread Sheets:  The Spread Sheets with detailed entries and scoring are now posted on the web-site (acgfa.com).  They are under the link “Fishing Report” located in the left column of the “home page”.  They are grouped as “Year-End Tournaments” and “In-Club Tournaments”. If you have a problem finding them or if there are members without a computer or access to the web please let me know and we will work out a solution.

JuSeptemberne Angler-of-the-Month: John Jordan: There were 1537 entry cards from 19 9 anglers this month.   There were 6 species of fish entered. Congratulations to Ju September Angler-of-the-Month: John Jordan: ne Angler-of-the-Month Max Pechstein.  Max  John  caught a a 6.50  lbs Flounder 6.50 lb Trout (1st1st  place Juniors Mens & largest of the month& 2nd Largest of Month), and a 8.25 lb Pompey Drum (1st place Mens & largest of the month) 3.50 lb Sheepshead (1st place Juniors & Largest of Month), & 3.68 lb Flounder (1st place Juniors & 2nd Largest of Month) for a total of  375550 points.  Great job Max John.!!   Catches include cards received from June1st August 29th thru 30thSeptember 25th..  Cards received after September 25th June 30th will count for the July October Angler-of-the-Month.  See the complete list of cards turned-in attached.  Remember, Angler-of-the-Month is awarded 100 bonus points which count toward the Angler-of-the-Year.  See Rule  H-6 of the Fishing Rules. 

Please remember to complete all spaces on the entry form and mail it not more than seven (7) days after the catch.  We’ve had several late and/or with incomplete information. Read Section E of the Fishing Rules for Entry Form information.


 


Upcoming Tournaments and Events:  The In-Club Kingfish Tournament will be July 15th. Weigh-in is at the Marlin Scales from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  The Young Anglers Tournament  is July 1st thru July 31st.  Attached are rules.

 

KFC Tournament Entry Cards:  We will enter Kingfish caught during the Junior KFC.  We do not have Angler information available for Kingfish weighed in during the general tournament, so if you want your fish entered you need to submit a Fish Entry Card.  You can mail them or bring them to the meeting and we will accept them.

 

A reminder, only dues paid members may submit entries.  The “grace” period ended at the Membership Party.

Annual membership dinner and year-end awards:  Donna gave special thanks to David & Liana Chapman, Bill Kline, Bert  & Brenda Walton, John & Michele Waldron, John & Ruth Jordan,James & Linda Manucy, Pierre & Anita Pierce, David & Evi Bruster, Carmel Cunningham, and Stephanie Burt.  I’m sure there are others and they are appreciated and were not left out intentionally.  It was a great event!

 

Thank-you to all the members that assisted with the Kingfish Challenge Tournament!  This is only a 10 page newsletter so there is not room to list everyone that worked so hard.  We will have a recap at the July Meeting (July 18th).  Except for the weather, it went very smoothly and comments received were very good.

 

If you have not paid your 2006-2007 dues, they were due June 1st.  We have 51 Families paid, 24 Singles paid, and 5 Life Members.  Approximately 20 are new members.  Welcome aboard!  The bad news is there are 51 Families and 34 Singles who were members last year that have not renewed their memberships yet.  We need all of you back so please mail or bring your dues to the meeting.  Your fish don’t count if your dues are not paid.

DATE:  Saturday, October 25, 2008  Rules follow:

 

FISHING:  This tournament is an In-Club tournament for ACGFA Members only.  This is an “Angler Tournament,” anglers can fish against each other on the same boat.  Anglers must fish in local waters.  Federal State, and/or County fishing laws and regulations always apply.

SAFETY:  SAFETY IS ALWAYS FIRST.  Safety is paramount; Captains are responsible for the safe and legal operation of their boats at all times.

QUALIFYING FISH:  Fish eligible for this tournament are Redfish (Red Drum, Red Bass).  All fish must be caught on hook and line and landed in whole condition.  Angler’s must strike and fight their fish unassisted to the net.  Fish must be of legal length (18” min., 27” max. tail pinched), bag and possession limits.  The winning fish will be the Redfish with the most spots counted on both sides of the fish’s body. Spots must be separated to count.  Spots that are not separated, irregular or misshaped will count as one spot.  The Judge’s count is final.  In case of a tie, the earliest fish judged will win.  Entering a fish that is not legal will result in disqualification from the tournament.  Mutilated fish will not be counted.

JUDGING: will be at the Vilano Boat Ramp.  Anglers may bring their fish for judging by boat or vehicle anytime from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It doesn’t get any easier than this!

CHECKOUT and CHECK-IN:  There is none; however, you must be registered for this tournament by signing in during the September or October monthly club meetings or calling (see below).

RADIO: Captains are reminded that they should have an operational VHF radio on board their boat for safety.  Tournament staff will monitor VHF channel 68 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.

AWARDS:  The prize structure for this tournament is.  $600 will be awarded to the top three anglers.  1st place $300

2nd place $200 - 3rd place $100.   The top three angler’s awards will be presented at the November meeting.

PROTEST:  The Tournament Chairman will settle any protest.  The Tournament Chair’s decision is final.

ENTRY FEE:  Entry fee is $10.00 per angler.  There is a 10-person minimum for this tournament.

WEATHER:  Use your best judgment, but have fun.  No weather day.
