Last month Capt. Kirk Waltz spoke to us about jetty fishing. Capt Kirk told us how his dad taught him how
to fish from a boat near the jetties when he was growing up in Charleston, SC. Capt. Kirk told us about using light tackle
and jig heads with small to medium size shrimp to catch sheepshead. He also gave us several great tips on
anchoring and how to read the eddies around the rocks. Great program!

Web Site: The address is acgfa.com. The site has updated!!!! The "Newsletter" should be posted
to the site when it is mailed each month. Also the photos will be in color and the
“Blooper Award” will be there.
Great Job Award: Carl Pecora was presented a beautiful clock
topped with a bronze King Mackerel sculpted by Pierre (club
member Pierre Pierce) as a token of our appreciation for
the fine job he has done as Chairman of the Kingfish Challenge Tournament for
the past three years.
Bloopers: Dale
Horton earned a “Blooper Award”. He
was recognized for his boat drifting away from the dock at the boat ramp. He tried swimming to the boat but was unable
to climb on board. An “older” person at
the ramp volunteered to swim to the boat and retrevied it for Dale. Maybe a class on tying a line to a cleat is
in order??? There is a copy of his
Blooper Award Certificate below and on the Web Site, acgfa.com.
Fishing Information
November Angler of the Month: WOW!! 75 entry
cards from 23 anglers this month. Congratulations to angler-of-the-month Dillon Sabate. Dillon,
a Junior Angler, fishing on the “Bite Me Too”, caught a .75 lb Black Sea Bass
(1st Place Junior's & largest of month - 4 pts), 3.5 and 1.9 lb
Pompey Drums (1st & 2nd Place Junior's – 2 & 1
pts), 3.75 & 2.5 lb Sheepshead (1st & 2nd Place
Junior's – 2 & 1 pts), 2.33 & 2.00 lb Trout (1st & 2nd
Place Junior's – 2 & 1 pts), and .75 lb Snapper (Other) (2nd
Place Junior's & 2nd largest of month - 2 pts), for a total of
15 points. Great job! Cut-off was October 16th thru November 19th. IMPORTANT - Make sure you MAIL your cards not
later than 7 days after the fish is caught and that the fish meets the club
minimum weight requirement. Minimum
weights are listed on the Year-End Board.
Unfortunately, there were several that did not meet these
requirements. Two cards only had the species, weight, and location
of scales entered. Also, if there
is not a BOAT NAME entered on the card, I must assume you are fishing from
shore, pier, or with a non-member. N/A
will be entered for the boat name. See
the list of cards tumed-in attached.
Bottom Fish Tournament: The Bottom Fish Tournament has been
rescheduled for December 7th. Eligible
fish include both offshore and inshore species. Trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third. 26 Anglers are entered. If it is again weathered out, all entry fees
will be refunded
New Tournament Payouts: In order to make this years eight in-club
tournaments more attractive, the Board has approved making a cash payout for
all in-club tournaments. There is a good
mix of Inshore, Offshore, and Combinations of both for every one. See the attached Events Schedule for
additional information.
