Our Next Meeting
is Tuesday, January 16th at the St. Augustine Shrine Club,
Last Month’s Meeting: Because of the early date of the Christmas
Party (December 1st) this
Newsletter was printed after the Christmas Party. Anyone that missed the party missed a great
time. There were many members, children
and guests there, and, of course Santa and Mrs. Claus. Many thanks to Harry and Marie Frantz and to Ruth
Jordan, Teeka Franke and their helpers for making Santa’s visit a great
time for the children. Thanks to James Manucy &, Jim Blalock and crew for the ham, turkeys (smoked & fried) and
roast pork. Thanks also to all who
brought covered dishes and desserts, they were delicious. The Shrine Club looked great. Thanks to the Shriners who furnished the
Christmas Tree and the hard work by the decorating committee and kitchen crew
for their hard work. Also gift
certificates and a Pierre Pierce Trophy were presented to Tommy Vaughn (Avid Angler) for the hard work they do for our
Kingfish Challenge Tournament and Liana
and David Chapman were recognized for their donation of turkeys and hams
for our Thanksgiving Gift Baskets for the needy.
“Baskets of Cheer” and Door Prizes: Winners of the
Baskets of Cheer were: Jim Mitchell and Paula Mickler. The parties
are on them. Thanks to all who
brought items for the baskets, they were great.
We raised over $600.00 to donate to the Shriner’s charity. There were 5
- Fifty Dollar ($50.00) gift certificates to local restaurants drawn from the
members present as door prizes. Winners were: Chris McCranie, Bill & Lois Usina, Rick Emert, John Kolbe, &
Chris Thomas. There were several names drawn that were not there.
New Life Members: Joel
&
Membership Drawing -
$300: At the Christmas Party, we drew names until
there was a winner: Jimmy Tedder. Again there
were several names drawn that were not there.
It pays to attend the meetings and parties.
Snacks: Last month Jim & Rene Blalock had Pulled Pork
Sandwiches with Chips and Cole Slaw. If you were late, shame on you. It ran out! Sorry about that, next time I will fix 30 lbs
of pork instead of 22 lbs. Carmel and
Joel Cunningham will provide snacks at the January meeting.

Message from the President
Most presidents take office and tell you how bad the last officers did.
Well, that's not what is happening. The club is not broken. The current group
of officers and board members will continue to do what is best for our club.
The overall goal this year is to bring the board and officers closer to
the membership. "Closer" meaning asking members to get involved and
have more input in decisions and club functions. "Closer" meaning
asking board members and officers to give up some of the fun jobs we do. Having
more participation will increase pride, responsibility, and membership. Overall
it will make it more fun for everyone.
Our A.C.G.F.A. founding fathers recognized this need. In our bylaws we
have standing and ad hoc committees. Start looking in the monthly "want
ads" for your opportunity to work with a great club. When you consider
applying for a job, plan to bring in several of your friends to help. The more
people involved the better it is.
HOPE YOUR

Beat
Wishes to all!! Rene and I especially wish each and everyone
a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Both she and I have had our share of health problems this year. We could not have a better group of friends
as this club. The food that was brought,
the prayers and best wishes, and just the thought that we could depend on you
for your support meant a great deal to us. This club has always been there for
its members and the community. That’s
why it is so great. Thank you all so much - Jim & Rene
