Christmas Party:  Anyone that missed the party missed a great time.  There were many members, children and guests there, and, of course Santa and Mrs. Claus. Many thanks to Harry and Marie Frantz and to Stephanie Burt, Donna Frantz, and their helpers for making Santa’s visit a great time for the children (young and old). Thanks to James Manucy &  Jim Blalock and crew for the ham, turkeys (smoked & fried) and roast pork.  Thanks also to all who brought covered dishes and desserts, they were delicious.  The Shrine Club looked great.  Thanks to the Shriners who furnished the Christmas Tree and to Ruth Jordan, Entertainment Chairperson, the decorating committee and kitchen crew for their hard work.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: (January)

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Christmas and New Year holiday.  Our Board is working to improve membership participation in 2009.  I hope everyone comes and joins us in this year’s events.  Without membership participation, WE DON’T HAVE A CLUB.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for bringing all of your covered dishes for our Christmas party; also in the same breath, I want to thank each of the members who worked to make this party such a success.  In my opinion, there are several persons whom deserve special Thank You’s: Jim and Rene Blalock for their “Basket of Cheer”; Ruth & John Jordan for setting up and preparing a lot of the food for the dinner; Stephanie Burt (Santa’s Helper (we had 51 youngsters this year)); Donna Frantz for being the Master of Ceremony’s; Jim Blalock for his cooking the Boston Butts (they were great!); and all of the other workers that helped make our Christmas party a success. Santa and Mrs. Claus, as always made our evening; he talked about his magic keys this year.

Coming up….  Get ready for our Spring Kickoff Tournament (February – March), Leroy Kinlaw will update us about the tournament this month.  Tom Buckhalter has lined up a speaker from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to speak to us about new and upcoming fishing regulations; this is one of the things you have been asking for, so come to the meeting, and bring a friend.

Last, I want to talk about e-mail addresses.  We are really working to go paperless this year to save on labor and expenses.  Jimmy sent a sample e-mail newsletter out; we need your input as to the success of this mail-out, and how it worked.  Talk to us about it.

I hope your fishing lines stay tight!
