Our Next Meeting is Tuesday, October 16th at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 1st St.  A map is available at acgfa.com.  Our meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month unless notified otherwise.  The Shriners have a very nice facility overlooking Moultrie Creek.  They have adequate parking across from the building and operate a bar for us with donations for Drinks @ $3.00 and Beer @ $2.00.  Social is at 6:30, meeting at 7:30.


Last Month’s Meeting was the weigh-in for the B.S. Open Tournament followed by a fish fry, awards and raffle. 

I understand there was great food and a good attendance. Tournament results are attached.

Raffle:  The Christmas Party will be  Bob Swann and Dave Russell’s last raffle.  David Chapman & Rick Emert have volunteered to take over the raffle starting in January.  Dave Russell and Bob Swann had another great raffle which included; rods & reels, cooler, and many other fishing items.  I did not get the names of the winners. Dave Russell and Bob Swann had another great raffle which included; rods & reels, coolers, radios, bait motel, fish bag and gift certificates. I did not get the names of all the winners but winners included: John Coates, Evi Bruster, Rusty Russell, Drew Dillon, Rene Blalock, and John Baggott.  This month Dave and Bob will have another great raffle. which may include Cooler, Lure Bags/Tackle Boxes, Rods & Reels and other great items. 

 

Club Shirts, Etc.:   Wil & Teeka have some great colors now. Fishing Hats are here. They have ACGFA Shirts and some Tank Tops, Kingfish Challenge Shirts, Rig Bags, and Towels for sale depending on what was left over from the Tournament. Teeka is taking special orders for Christmas gifts now.

 

Program:  Snacks will be provided by Carolyn Emert. Speaker will be the St. Johns Riverkeeper. Voting will be conducted and installation of the officers and board will be at the November meeting. The Nominating Committee will nominate the following club officers which are: President - Joe Noda; Vice President  Ray Lake; Secretary  Carolyn Emert; Treasurer – Linda Manucy; and 4 Directors (the Past President John Jordan will serve as a Director) and 2 Alternate Directors  Vote for 5 from the following: Ruth Jordan, Bert Walton, Wil Franke, Stephanie Burt, Donna Frantz, James Manucy, Carmel Cunningham, Robert Olsen, Pierre Pierce, Anita Pierce,  & David Chapman.  The Board operates the club’s business and is very important to the club.  You may also submit nominations from the floor providing the person nominated is willing to accept the office. You can also volunteer to Chair or serve on Committees.

 

 

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Thanks to all members, helpers, and contributors in the B.S. Tournament.  It was great fun and the fish-fry was even better.

 

Helpers were:   Officials – Bert, Linda, Donna & Teeka;

                        Cooks – Joe. Jimmy, Ray, Robert & LeRoy;

                        Kitchen Crew – Ruth, Teeka, Debbie, Anne & Dillon;

                        Cleaners – Wil, James, Pierre, Steve, Thomas, Larry & David .

 

A special thanks go to LeRoy and Wanda Kinlaw (L&W Catering) for donating the cole slaw and baked beans and

Tom, Susan, and Amanda Hunter for the boiled shrimp.

Fishing Information

 

 

JuSeptemberne Angler-of-the-Month: Koby Waldron: There were 8137 entry cards from 19 21 anglers this month.   There were 11 species of fish entered. Congratulations to Ju September Angler-of-the-Month: Koby Waldron: ne Angler-of-the-Month Max Pechstein.  Max  Koby  caught a three (3) Flounder 1.90 to 1.00 lbs 6.50 lb Trout (1st, 2nd, & 3rd1st place Juniors Small-Fry& 2nd Largest of Month), caught two (2) Redfish 4.90 to 4.60 lbs (1st & 2nd place Small-Fry), two (2) Snapper (Other) .70 lbs (1st & 2nd place Small-Fry) and a 1.10 lb Trout (1st place Small-Fry & 2nd largest of the Month) 3.50 lb Sheepshead (1st place Juniors & Largest of Month), & 3.68 lb Flounder (1st place Juniors & 2nd Largest of Month) for a total of 75550 points.  Great job Max Koby!!  Catches include cards received from June1st August 31st thru 30thSeptember 27th and they include the 28 cards postmarked 8/3 thru 8/10 that I missplaced last month..  Cards received after September 27th June 30th will count for the July October Angler-of-the-Month.  See the complete list of cards turned-in attached.  Remember, Angler-of-the-Month is awarded 100 bonus points which count toward the Angler-of-the-Year.  See Rule  H-6 of the Fishing Rules. 

Please remember to complete all spaces on the entry form and mail it not more than seven (7) days after the catch.  We’ve had several late and/or with incomplete information. Read Section E of the Fishing Rules for Entry Form information.


Club Records:  There were two club records set during September.  John Baggott caught a 7 lb 12 oz Snook on September 7th which is the first Snook ever entered since they were added to our year-end board several years ago.  Ironically, Charla Rudderow broke his record with a 10 lb 7 oz Snook caught September 23rd.  Great job John and Charla!  Both anglers earned the 100 point bonus and will receive recognition for breaking an ACGFA Club Record.


Upcoming Tournaments and Events:  The In-Club Kingfish Tournament will be July 15th. Weigh-in is at the Marlin Scales from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  The Young Anglers Tournament  is July 1st thru July 31st.  Attached are rules.

Young Anglers Tournament:  (July 1st thru July 31st)  11 Junior anglers (56 fish) and 2 Small-Fry anglers (5 fish) submitted entry cards.  Congratulations to: Small-Fry; 1st place Koby Waldron 350 points, $150; 2nd place Nykki Burress 75 points, $100; 3rd place None:  Junior; 1st place Blake Van Kirk 675 points, $150; 2nd place Brian Sousa, Jr. 575 points, $100; 3rd place Max Pechstein  550 points, $50.  Awards will be made at the October meeting.

 

KFC Tournament Entry Cards:  We will enter Kingfish caught during the Junior KFC.  We do not have Angler information available for Kingfish weighed in during the general tournament, so if you want your fish entered you need to submit a Fish Entry Card.  You can mail them or bring them to the meeting and we will accept them.

Redfish Spots Tournament: The Redfish SPOTS (most spots) Tournament will be, Saturday, October 20th. Judging will be 2:00 p.m. til 5:00 p.m.  Prizes are $300 first, $200 second, and $100 third. You can enter at the next meeting, call Wil Franke (904-460-0064) or a Board Member by Friday Oct 19th.  Rules are attached.
